Police officer visit!!!

I am very proud to post that our visit was a success! We were able to talk about the vocabulary words we learned (badge, uniform, handcuffs, cruiser, safety, fingerprint and siren).  We listened to a few safety tips and also answered important questions.  We also showed the officer the book that we have been reading AND Cody read a page out loud!  I'm so proud of every one of my students today.

Wednesday special guest

We are very excited to meet a West Allis Police officer next week!  We have been talking about a variety of safety scenarios.....staying with an adult, no talking with strangers, walking on sidewalks and many more.  It is very important that your kiddos feel safe and comfortable around Police officers.   Hopefully none of the kiddos are too scared!  Please take the time to talk about this upcoming visit.

Eagle Bucks!

On Friday our students participated in a fun learning event.  During the day we moved to various areas and learned about the expectations in school.  To help the whole school continue to follow the expectations we are handing out Eagle Bucks.  All school staff will be passing these out to students (not their own class) when they are spotted making good choices.  Please check your child's folder for these slips.   We will be using them to buy prizes and earn special fun days for our class.  So far we are doing GREAT!!!!!!

Themes!

Just wanted to let you know the themes for the next two weeks will be police officers and fire fighters.  We will be discussing the many ways that they help out in our communities.  Today we talked about walking on sidewalks and staying safe around roads.  We put on badges and searched for  letters to build words during sensory time.  Yesterday the class made thumb prints on a counting book.  If your child is afraid of police officers or fire fighters we hope to she'd some light on they help us!
